Hi!
January is a month with a tight budget for many of us. Food is one of the big ones – do you know how to reduce your food costs? A hot tip is to make your food yourself, from scratch. Another is to make vegetarian dishes instead of meat or fish dishes. And, choose root veggies! Here are three cheap recipes we make often!
Yellow pea soup – buy a pack of dried yellow peas (costs like 10 kr) and make yourself a big batch of pea soup. This is super food box friendly, too. Choose if you want pork with it or not. If you want the smoky flavor of pork but not the pork itself, opt for a smoked tofu instead. Fry it and serve with your soup. And don’t forget the mustard.
Cabbage pudding – ok, so this – kålpudding – is a traditional dish in Sweden which many don’t make on the regular, but it’s yummy and really cheap. It’s served with potatoes, lingonberries and gräddsås (not the same as cream sauce).
Pasta with carrots and crème fraiche – try this pasta recipe! It’s cheap and super quick to make! Add some beans or lentils for extra fiber and protein.
