A couple of weeks ago, we gave you some tips on what to do in and around Linköping during summer (if you have yet to read the post, you can find it here). One of them was to go to the sauna by Över Glottern. Besides being super cozy, what are the reasons to sauna? Well, it turns out there are quite a few*. These are some of them:
Increased circulation
The heat of the sauna automatically makes your heart beating faster, and your blood vessels to widen. Increased circulation is said to help with muscle sorenesss, arthritis, pain and mobility.
Releive congestion
Stepping into your sauna can help with congestion in sinuses and chest. Add peppermint oil to the water and splash it on the hot coals to amplify the effect!
Stress relief
The silence and the active choice to relax is great for the body as well as the mind. Your increased heart rate means more endorphins, which will lift your mood. If you want to amp up the calm, try adding a drop of lavender essential oil into a cup of water and splash it on the hot coals.
As students, we need to find ways to relax and get a break from studying, anxiety and our own demands from time to time. 15 minutes in the sauna can be one way of doing that. How do you feel – do you like the sauna? Tell us over on Instagram @livetogrow_student.
